How Long Does My Class Last?

The following are approximate course duration times.

  • BLS Class:  3.5 – 4 hours
  • Heartsaver CPR AED Class:  3 hours
  • Heartsaver CPR AED First Aid Class:  6-7 hours
  • First time ACLS Class:  8-9 hours (1 day only)
  • First time PALS Class:  8-9 hours (1 day only)
  • ACLS Renew Class:  8-9 hours
  • PALS Renew Class:  8-9 hours
  • BLS/ACLS Renew Combo class:  8-9 hours

 


Do You Cancel Classes?

Classes are only canceled in emergency situations, or if the instructor becomes ill. We typically do not cancel classes simply because of low enrollment.

Although this rarely occurs, if a class must be canceled, we will notify you with as much advanced notice as possible via phone and email. At that time, we will work to reschedule you for a future class. If this doesn’t work with your schedule, we will give you a full refund.


Is There a Written Test at the End of the Course?

BLS Test
Yes, there is a written test at the end of the BLS class. It is 25 questions. You may use your book for reference, i.e. open book.

ACLS Test
Yes, there is a written test at the end of the ACLS class. It is 50 questions. You may use your book for reference, i.e. open book.

PALS Test
Yes, there is a written test at the end of the PALS class. It is 50 questions. You may use your book for reference, i.e. open book.

HeartSaver CPR and First Aid
There is no written test for the HeartSaver CPR and First Aid classes.


How Do I Claim my eCard?

The American Heart Association no longer provides physical cards. All cards are in digital format that you can access and print.

 

Here are directions on How To Claim and Access Your Ecard.

Once you have accessed your card through the AHA’s website, you will have the option to download and print the eCard, which is in PDF format.

Course Descriptions

Basic Life Support (BLS Class)
This course Satisfies All Requirements for Students in Medically Related School Programs (such as nursing school, medical and dental school, etc.). This is the BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR course that is required by medical and healthcare professionals such as nurses, doctors, dentists, dental hygienists, radiologists, paramedics, therapists, etc. This course is for both first time students AND for those that are renewing their BLS card.

 

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS Renew)
This course is the Update ACLS course. You must have a current ACLS certification to be eligible for this class. If your ACLS certification has expired then you must take the First Time ACLS class; see below.

 

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS Renew)
This course is the Update PALS course. You must have a current PALS certification to be eligible for this class. If your PALS certification has expired then you must take the First Time PALS class; see below.

 

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (1st Time ACLS)
This is the initial ACLS class for specialized health care providers such as surgeons, emergency medical physicians and nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other medical professionals in life threatening and critical environments.

 

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (1st Time PALS)
This is the initial PALS class for advanced healthcare providers that work in a pediatric setting. This course is typically taken by surgeons, emergency medical physicians and nurses, paramedics, and other medical professionals in life threatening and critical pediatric environments.

 

CPR for Teachers, Trainers, Public, etc. (HeartSaver CPR)
This class is for Personal Trainers, Coaches, Teachers, Life Guards, Parents, Baby Sitters, Home Care, Hotels, Restaurants, Security, and anyone else who want to be certified in CPR with AED Training for adults, children, and infants. HeartSaver® CPR is for people who do not have a medical background and will not be working in a healthcare profession, but need to be certified in CPR.

 

First Aid and CPR Class (HeartSaver CPR – First Aid)
The Heartsaver® First Aid and CPR class will teach students the essential skills and knowledge required to manage emergencies until advanced medical personal arrives.

 

Online Classes
Online classes include HeartSaver CPR, BLS, ACLS, & PALS classes. The American Heart Association’s online classes provide the perfect way to get your AHA certification card with very little interference with your schedule. You can complete the online portion of the course at your leisure on your own computer, and then take a quick in-person skills check at a convenient time for you. All AHA Online Classes required an in-person skills check.

 

Skills Checks
If you have completed the first part of an American Heart Association online class, you will need to get your skills checked in order to complete your certification. Skills Checks in BLS for Healthcare Providers, ACLS, PALS, and CPR and First Aid courses. The American Heart Association requires that every student must pass an in-person, hands-on sesion with a qualified AHA instructor before receiving their 2 year certification card.


What if I Lost My Card or Need a Replacement Card?

REPLACEMENT CARDS:
Card Recovery Costs:
All American Heart Association cards are now digital. If you lose access to your card, there is a $20 recovery cost for each occurrence. However, if you purchased Card Insurance, recovering access to your card is FREE for 2 full years. To request a replacement card simply email us.

NOTE: We can only replace your card if you took the class from us. If you took it elsewhere, you will have to contact that training site.


What is the Refund Policy?

There are NO REFUNDS for classes and books that were purchased and scheduled.


RESCHEDULING:
You may reschedule a class, if necessary, by emailing us with that request before your scheduled class. If we do not receive a request from you prior to your class, we do not offer a refund and you may not reschedule. If you do not pass the course, we will allow you to study the materials and reschedule for a future class. We allow this as a courtesy one time only. If you are not successful on the second try, you will have to purchase the class again.

*Skills Check Policy: If you fail to show up for a scheduled skills check you will be charged a $50 instructor fee in order to reschedule.

What Should I Wear?

Just wear comfortable clothing. Our classes are always taught in a relaxed and stress-free classroom environment.


What Kind of Payment Do You Accept?

We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Classes must be paid for in advance due to limited seating. We do not accept personal checks.
